Duration

2021-Completed

GPA provided professional and technical services to deliver a comprehensive engagement strategy as part of a review of parking requirements for new developments in Toronto. There has been a shifting demand for automobile parking since the City of Toronto last reviewed its parking space regulations in Zoning By-law 569-2013. City staff are reviewing these requirements to better align them with the objectives of the Official Plan, guided by the principle that parking standards in new development should allow only the maximum amount of parking reasonably required for a given land use. Minimums should be avoided except where necessary to ensure equitable access, such as for accessible parking or in areas that would be difficult to serve with transit. GPA developed presentations, social media content, and engagement materials; facilitating public meetings and live Q&A discussion periods on WebEx Events; providing technical coordination and participant management; and summarizing the outcomes of engagement with a wide range of stakeholders and the public.
